Task Groups

The 6th WMRIF General Assembly decided to reorganize the WMRIF structure. WMRIF now operates in the General Assembly and four task groups. 

Task Group 1: Outreach to Underrepresented Regions
Leader:  Dr. Michael Fasolka (NIST)
WMRIF aims to represent the world’s leading materials research institutes. It has identified regions which are still underrepresented and strengthens its efforts to include institutes from these regions. 

 

Task Group 2: Ten Trends in Materials Science and Engineering
Leader: Prof. Dr. Thomas Böllinghaus (BAM)
WMRIF has always observed the development in the materials science field. As such the Materials Science Outlook has been published by NIMS. The current and continuously up-dated output is the Ten Trends in Materials Science and Engineering document.

Task Group 3: Early Career
Makoto Watanabe (NIMS)
Scientists at the early stage of their career are tomorrow’s leaders. WMRIF contributes to their growing international experience by organizing international competitive workshops and hosting the award winning best presenters in their institutes. Task Group 3 follows the achievements of the previous working group WG 3 Attracting the Young Scientists

Task Group 4: VAMAS Liaison
Leader: Dr. Graham Sims (NPL)
Materials data attract an ever increasing attention and attain increasing relevance. This task group builds on the achievements of the previous working group WG 4 Promotion of Global Database in close cooperation with the liaison partner Versailles Project on Advanced Materials and Standards (VAMAS)
